and are within the basic medical sciences, the disciplines
of medicine, and the provision of health care to

No.
The CME requirement will apply to all renewal and
reinstatement applications after the first renewal
or in the case of an applicant who has never renewed,
after initial medical licensure. First time renewing
physicians are required to complete the online New
Physician Orientation Program prior to the renewal
of a license. |

Answer:
If you wish to keep your license active,
you must renew your license. Before you renew your
license, you must earn at least 50 Category 1 CME's. |

Answer:
Yes. One year of full-time service in accredited
training program earns 50 Category 1 CME's and full-time
service for a portion of a year earns 1 credit hour
per week. |

Will my licensed be renewed if I have not earned

Answer:
If you wish to renew your license, you must earn
at least 50 Category 1 CME's before applying for
renewal. The renewal application asks you to certify
that you earned 50 Category 1 CME's. If you answered
that you earned the required CME's and you did not,
you have falsified your application. Be advised
that you may be selected to participate in a random
CME audit. If the audit reveals that you did not
earn at least 50 CME's during your renewal period
and you stated that you did, you may be subject
to disciplinary action. |

Answer:
The Board recognizes for Category 1 activities
that meet at least one of the following criteria:

| a. |
The
activity (ies) should be accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME); |
| b. |
The
activity (ies) can be sponsored by an international,
national or state medical society that meets
the standards adopted by ACCME; |
| c. |
One
year of full-time service in accredited training
program earns 50 Category 1 CME's; Full-time
service for a portion of a year earns 1 credit
hour per week. |
| d. |
A
program of self-instruction to prepare for
an approved board certification of recertification
examination can earn up to a maximum of 10
credit hours; |
| e. |
A
service performed, without compensation, under
the auspices of a peer review, focused professional
education, or physician rehabilitation committee
of Med-Chi can earn up to a maximum of 10
credit hours; |
| f. |
A
service performed, without compensation, as
a preceptor to medical students in LCME-accredited
medical schools and to postgraduate trainees
in accredited training programs can earn up
to a maximum of 10 credit hours. |

A
service performed, without compensation, by
a Board designee that involves medical review
for the Board can earn up to maximum of 10
credit hours. |

You must retain the documentation for at
least 6 years for possible inspection by the Board.
