Things to Know Before You Begin

Do you have enough CME credits?
Physicians must upload proof of 50 Category I or II CME credits in a 2-year period, with at least 25 of those CME credit hours being Category 1 within the 2-year period preceding the date of the submission of the reinstatement application. Please have this documentation available before you begin this application.

Who may use the online reinstatement application?
A physician whose license has expired for any reason may reinstate their license using the online reinstatement application.
Who may NOT use the online reinstatement application?
1. A physician whose license has been revoked, surrendered, or suspended may not use the online application to reinstate. Contact lisa.dorsey@maryland.gov to request a paper application.
2. A physician with an expired conceded eminence license may not use the online application to reinstate. The physician must apply again for a conceded eminence license. (opens in a new window)
The fee to reinstate a medical license is $700.
There are opportunities throughout the application to upload supporting documentation. Upload links are provided for things like name changes, CME certificates, and any "YES" answers to character and fitness questions. Be sure to have this documentation available before you begin.
The Board reviews applications in order of receipt. If your application is missing information, you will be contacted by email within 10-15 days. The email will list the information that is required to complete your application. You have 60 days to submit the required information. If you do not submit the required information within 60 days of receipt of the email, your application will be closed, and a new application and full (non-refundable) reinstatement fee will be required.
